Catch up on the latest media coverage surrounding the Demons
NOTE: The following stories and reports are sourced from external media outlets and social platforms. They are a summary of trade speculation, and not the reporting of fact by the Melbourne Football Club.
THE 2025 Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period is in full swing, and the media reports are flying in thick and fast.
Demon supporters have shown plenty of interest in how the Club is shaping its next chapter, as discussion builds around potential moves and list management strategy.
We’ve compiled a selection of stories currently doing the rounds, as reported by various outlets and voices across social media to help keep you in the know.
Max Heath
What Tim Lamb has said:
“Max is a player of interest. We need a succession plan for Gawny,” Lamb said.
“Max is definitely a player of interest, he’s 22 years old, 204 centimeters, big aggressive guy, so that’s something we hope to bring in.”
What the Media is saying:
Bailey Humphrey
What Tim Lamb has said:
“I can’t deny we’ve got an interest in Bailey,” Lamb said.
“But we fully respect the Gold Coast’s position in that Bailey is contracted and Craig has been quite clear on that.”
What the Media is saying:
Gold Coast have insisted publicly that Bailey Humphrey’s not for sale. He perfectly embodies the player identity Damien Hardwick is trying to build.
But the word “untouchable” rarely means what it used to in the modern trade market…

Christian Petracca
What Tim Lamb has said:
“All I’ll say is that Christian is a contracted superstar of our club and the competition,” Lamb said.
“He’s a modern day great, he’s already had a Hall of Fame career, he’s a legend of our footy club, so, if someone wants him, come and talk to us and pay up.”
What the Media is saying:
Brody Mihocek
What Tim Lamb has said:
“We are really excited to add someone of Brody’s experience and character to our group,” Lamb said.
“He has proven himself as a consistent performer and his ability to compete in the air and hit the scoreboard will be a great asset for us.
“Brody is a team-first player who we believe will have a strong impact on our younger forwards and complement the mix we are building.”
What the Media is saying:
Brody Mihocek is moving to Melbourne.
He spent 8 years at the Pies and was a 2023 Premiership player. @7AFL @7NewsMelbourne

Clayton Oliver
What Tim Lamb has said:
“We had a meeting with Clayton face to face, with Richo [Alan Richardson], myself and Stephen King at Clayton’s management office and it was a really good discussion,” Lamb said.
“Kingy said he wants a really adaptable midfield with players who can play different roles, so that was pretty much how it was explained.
“Clearly there’s some interest from a few clubs and we’re going to work through all facets of the negotiation, but we won’t go into any detail on that at this point.”
What the Media is saying:
GWS well ahead in luring Clayton Oliver.
Craig McRae on Collingwood’s interest:
“I’m not privy to every conversation he’s (list boss Justin Leppitsch) having. It has been hard to get hold of Clayton though, I’ll say that. He must be having a good time in Sydney.”@7NewsMelbourne
