Hold onto your golf clubs, folks, because Happy Gilmore is coming home! And by that, we mean its release date is finally upon us.
Nearly three decades since the original film became a cult classic, Adam Sandler is returning to the green for Happy Gilmore 2 thanks to Netflix. The film follows a long-retired Happy Gilmore as he returns to the world of professional golf in an attempt to raise money for his family.
Here’s what we know about the sequel—from celebrity cameos to the exact time of its release.
Happy Gilmore 2 release date, Australia:
In Australia, Happy Gilmore 2 will arrive on Netflix on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 5pm AEST.
Who is cast in Happy Gilmore 2?
Of course, Adam Sandler will be reprising his role as Happy Gilmore, the hockey player-turned-golfing sensation with a swing that defies physics and an anger management issue to deal with. Joining him are Happy Gilmore original cast members Christopher McDonald—who played the original film’s villain, Shooter McGavin—and Julie Bowen, the Modern Family star who played Happy’s girlfriend, Virginia. Severence director Ben Stiller is also reprising his role as nursing home worker, Hal.
The main cast will also see musician Bad Bunny in his breakout role as Gilmore’s new and haphazard caddy. Meanwhile, the co-creator of Sandler’s hit film Uncut Gems, Benny Safdie, will also reportedly have a “juicy” role in the film. The trailer also reveals SNL star and comedian Marcello Hernandez.
One of Adam Sandler’s real-life daughters, Sunny Sandler, will also take the role of Vienna Gilmore—presumably Happy and Virginia’s daughter. It seems the happy couple from the original film had a whole brood of children, with wrestler Jacob Friedman—who plays one of their sons—posting a photo to Instagram with Adam Sandler and three other actors, captioned, “Meet the Gilmore boys”.
Beyond the returning stars, Happy Gilmore 2 has welcomed a number of guest spots from recognisable names and faces…
Happy Gilmore 2 cameos, explained:
Thanks to Netflix’s first teaser, we now know that the rumours of NFL superstar Travis Kelce making a cameo in the film are 100% true, with the Kansas City Chiefs player seemingly welcoming Happy Gilmore back to the golfing range. But Taylor Swift’s beau is not the only celeb on the roster of Happy Gilmore 2 guest stars. There are also cameos from:
Maragaret Qualley (The Substance)
Eminem (8 Mile)
Eric André (The Righteous Gemstones)
Jacob Friedman (the professional wrestler plays one of Happy Gilmore’s sons)
Boban Marjanovic (NBA player)
Travis Kelce (NFL player)
Verne Lundquist (a legendary real-life sports commentator who also plays a commentator in the film)
While the nature of the cameos weren’t all disclosed before the film’s release, we’ll soon find out whether these stars are playing themselves or characters in the Happy Gilmore universe.
Similar to the original, there are also a number of professional golfers appearing in Happy Gilmore 2.
All the golfers in Happy Gilmore 2:
Lee Trevino (Lee was in the original Happy Gilmore)

While there’s no official word on a Subway sponsorship for the sequel, it wouldn’t be a stretch given the brand’s history with Adam. After all, who could forget the classic scene in the original Happy Gilmore where Adam’s character endorses the sandwich chain with his signature charm? Whether Subway will make a return appearance remains to be seen, but fans are definitely hoping for a fresh spin on the beloved gag.
