Charles Oliveira got his groove back earlier tonight (Sat., Oct. 11, 2025) at UFC Rio LIVE on ESPN+ from inside Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, blowing the roof off the place with a stunning rear-naked choke finish over brazen lightweight contender Mateusz Gamrot.
Many were picking Gamrot to defeat Oliveira in his own backyard due to his relentless wrestling and top pressure, but “Do Bronx” quickly showed early on that his grappling skills were more dangerous than anything Gamrot offered. This included multiple submission attempts off his back in the first round before reversing rolls and pressuring Gamrot from top position.
The second round was all Oliveira as he walked down Gamrot on the feet and gave him little to no respect in the fight. Oliveira eventually scored a brief takedown along the cage, but it allowed him a quick moment to grab a hold of Gamrot’s back. Once that happened, it was only a matter of time before Oliveira sunk in the choke and made Gamrot tap for the first time in his career.
