The Dragons can confirm that Cody Ramsey will not return to the Red V in 2026 as he pursues an opportunity at another club.
The club explored a range of options in an attempt to retain Cody, but ultimately, the 25-year-old made the call he felt was best for his career and young family.
Cody this year made an inspirational return to the field having spent 896 days sidelined with ulcerative colitis and went on to captain the club’s Knock-On Effect NSW Cup team to a Grand Final berth last month as he completed one of the sport’s great comebacks.
A Dragons Academy graduate, Cody scored a double on NRL debut in 2020 and went on to make 36 first-grade appearances over his first three seasons.
“We would like to sincerely thank Cody for his many contributions to the club throughout his time here,” CEO Tim Watsford said.
“His journey inspired us all. He is held in very high esteem here and we were proud to stand by him as he battled to return from his illness. He is a very impressive young man, and although the club worked through many options for Cody to remain in the Red V, it ultimately wasn’t to be, and we wish him and his family every success going forward.”
