Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet officially confirmed that 27-year-old Tyson Carter has pulmonary embolism.

The team update was announced on Monday.

On Sunday, the Belgrade outfit issued a press release, revealing Carter was hospitalized with respiratory complications. Following medical exams confirmed pulmonary embolism. However, a recovery timeline remains unclear.

“We are considering it,” head coach Sasa Obradovic answered a question about possibly signing a backcourt replacement. “The market is not easy. We do not want to bring a player just to bring him in. This position is our priority. We have a few names on our list, and in the next few days, we will have to narrow down our options.”

With the native of Mississippi out indefinitely, he added to a crowded injury list. Joel Bolomboy, Isaiah Canaan, and Jasiel Rivero remain sidelined, but Devonte’ Graham, Ognjen Dobric, and Uros Plavsic are closer to a return.

“They are already training individually,” mentioned 56-year-old Obradovic after team practice on Monday, “It is day-to-day for Dobric and Plavsic. It is still uncertain with Graham.”

Carrying a 1-2 record, Zvezda is heading to a Round 4 encounter with Zalgiris in Belgrade Arena on Tuesday. Staying in the Serbian capital for the bottom half of the two-game week in Round 5, Real Madrid is the next opponent on Friday.

Besides Europe’s premier club continental competition, Zvezda sits 0-1 in Group B of the AdmiralBet ABA League Regular Season. A Round 3 fixture in Aleksandar Nikolic Hall opposite Ilirija follows on Monday.
