The Gold Coast SUNS have completed a trade with the Western Bulldogs for utility Connor Budarick.

The trade lands pick 37 to the SUNS in exchange for pick 70 and Budarick.

Budarick played 55 games over six seasons for the SUNS since graduating from the StreetSmarts SUNS Academy, playing in both of the club’s recent inaugural finals matches.

“Connor was out of contract and expressed an interest in exploring an opportunity with the Bulldogs. We were comfortable facilitating his request as long as the deal aligned with our goals as part of the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period and the upcoming Telstra AFL Draft,” Gold Coast SUNS General Manager of Player Talent and Strategy Craig Cameron said.

“We would like to thank Connor for his contribution to the club, throughout his time in our Academy and in our AFL program and we wish him all the best for what lies ahead.”

The second-round selection strengthens the SUNS’ draft hand, with the club now obtaining picks 7, 8, 15, 18, 29, 36, 37, 52, 74, 92 and 110.

The Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period concludes Wednesday 15 October.
