Rival clubs are preparing for an all-out assault on Hawthorn’s Pick 9, trading a future first-rounder.
According to Channel 7’s Mitch Cleary, Collingwood is hoping to move into the 2025 first round after selling away their top pick last year to secure Dan Houston.
The Hawks put Pick 9 to Essendon, along with a future-first-round pick, a future second-round pick and Henry Hustwaite for Bombers captain Zach Merrett.
Clubs including Collingwood are looking at trading for Hawthorn’s pick 9 for a future first-rounder.
It’s why the Hawks have told Essendon their current offer for Zach Merrett has a 7pm deadline. To this point, no one at the Bombers has engaged with the Hawks @7NewsMelbourne

It is understood that the Hawks told their arch-rivals that there is a deadline of 7pm Tuesday (AEDT).
Geelong could look to push up the draft order to help improve its pitch for Carlton’s Charlie Curnow.
The Cats offered three first-round picks, including this year’s Pick 19, but could enhance their chances of landing the local product.
Melbourne, like the Pies, is also without a first-round pick in 2025 after their dealings with Essendon last year, which netted them two young prospects in Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay.
North Melbourne is another club without a first-round pick, trading this year’s top selection out for Richmond to help draft Matt Whitlock.
Despite Port Adelaide not holding a first-round pick in 2025, they have noted this year’s draft is “compromised”, and will focus on the next two years as a host of NGA and father-son prospects are bound to join the club.
More to come.
