Catalans Dragons have confirmed the signing of Australian forward Ben Condon on a two-year deal, starting from the 2026 season.

The 25-year-old second-rower joins the Perpignan-based side following a season with the Widnes Vikings in the Betfred Championship, where he quickly made an impression with his power and work rate.

From Queensland to Catalonia

Condon, who stands at 196cm and weighs 109kg, began his professional career in 2020 with the North Queensland Cowboys, making his NRL debut against the Penrith Panthers. He featured 11 times the following season, scoring four tries and establishing himself as a strong and athletic back-rower capable of covering the middle.

After spending the 2022 season with the Mackay Cutters in the Queensland Cup, Condon moved to the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles, where he played regularly for the club’s feeder side, the Blacktown Workers, and made five NRL appearances across 2023 and 2024.

In 2025, Condon featured for the Central Queensland Capras before making the move to England with Widnes Vikings, where he scored five tries in ten games and earned the August Player of the Month award.

Excited for a New Challenge in France

Speaking after the announcement, Condon expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Dragons and the opportunity to experience French rugby league.

“I’m really excited to be joining the Catalans Dragons and very grateful for the opportunity they have given me for the next two years,” said Condon.

“I can’t wait to experience both the French culture and the incredible atmosphere at Stade Gilbert Brutus. I’m coming with the ambition to contribute to the team’s success and help push Catalans back into the playoffs, with the ultimate goal of winning a competition.

“I’m also looking forward to working under Joel Tomkins — from our conversations, it’s clear he has a great vision for the club, and I’m eager to be part of that.”

Tomkins: “Condon Has Character and Maturity”

Catalans head coach Joel Tomkins praised Condon’s attitude and drive, highlighting the qualities that convinced the club to bring him on board.

“I’ve been really impressed with Ben’s character and maturity during our conversations,” said Tomkins.

“He’s proven his motivation and ability over the last 12 months. He has been on my radar for a while, so when he became available it was an easy decision to offer Ben a contract.

“We are looking forward to welcoming him into the Dragons team and giving him the environment to take his game to the next level.”

Condon becomes Tomkins’ 10th signing ahead of the 2026 Super League campaign as Catalans continue to build a squad capable of challenging for silverware.
