Diane Keaton’s beloved “house that Pinterest built” was quietly taken off the market just two weeks before her death at the age of 79.

The Annie Hall star listed the property for $US29 million ($A44.2 million) in March, Realtor reports.

The Oscar winner had previously stated that she planned to remain there permanently.

It is unclear whether Keaton was still living in the home when she died.

Keaton spent a staggering eight years on a gut renovation of the home, which effectively saw her rebuilding it from the ground up, a process that she documented in her 2017 book, The House That Pinterest Built.

The listing for Keaton’s five-bedroom, seven-bathroom 1920s-era home highlighted her painstaking renovation process — and the incredible attention paid to detail.

“Nestled in prestigious Sullivan Canyon, this grand private and gated estate is a visual treasure trove, where every corner reveals a multitude of intricate details designed to captivate and inspire,” it noted.

“The sprawling brick structure exudes timeless elegance, enhanced by reclaimed features that pay homage to classic craftsmanship while embracing modern sophistication.”

Keaton shared that when she wanted to build her own home, she took the advice of her Something’s Gotta Give director, Nancy Meyers, and took to the boards of Pinterest for inspiration.

“If you want to explore. If you love to see. If you’re looking to look, this book is an example of a home made from the gifts of other people’s addictive yearnings for the perfect home, with the perfect landscape and the perfect interior,” Keaton wrote.

The home boasts multiple fireplaces, an outdoor pool, soaring ceilings, and a guesthouse.

It is unclear what prompted Keaton to take the house off the market. However, she had reduced her asking price to $US27.5 million ($A42.3 million) just a few weeks after listing it.

Property records indicate that the home is still listed under a trust with Keaton’s real name, Diane Hall.

Keaton left behind a staggering net worth of $US100 million ($A152 million).

The First Wives Club star was also a savvy real estate flipper, specialising in restoring historic homes.

Keaton had a deep appreciation for architecture and design, especially Spanish Colonial, Mission Revival and mid-century modern styles, Page Six reports.

Several of her flips were sold to fellow celebrities, according to Celebrity Net Worth, including a 100-year-old mansion that she bought in 2007 for $US8.1 million ($A12.3 million).

Three years later, she sold it to American Horror Story producer Ryan Murphy for $10 million ($A15. 2 million).

In 2002, the Annie Hall star purchased a Bel Air home for an undisclosed amount. After renovations, she sold the home to a tech exec for $US16.5 million ($A25.1 million) in 2005.

A Laguna Beach property was bought for $US7.5 million ($A11.4 million) in 2002, renovated, and then sold just two years later for $US12.75 million ($A19 million).

Another house in the Pacific Palisades was bought, renovated, and then resold for over a million more than she paid.

Keaton’s cause of death has not been announced. She is survived by her two children, daughter Dexter and son Duke.
