Following reports linking Nikola Mirotic to AS Monaco since the bottom end of the 2024-25 season and a recent positive update by La Roca Team, the 34-year-old forward/center officially joined his new side on Friday.
La Roca Team has already welcomed Yoan Makoundou back from loan and also picked up Kevarrius Hayes, before announcing a two-year deal with the latest summer signing.
“Monaco is a club that has been at the top level of the Euroleague in recent years and has the potential to grow even further. I wanted a new challenge,” said Mirotic, “I still have the ability, and that’s why I decided to sign here.”
EA7 Emporio Armani Milan also confirmed his departure.
Per the press release: “Olimpia Milan is thankful to Nikola Mirotic for the two seasons that we spent together, the wins achieved over this period of time, and wishes to him and his family all the best for the future.”
Back in the 2021-22 season, he was named Most Valuable Player of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, topping his list of achievements in Europe’s premier club continental competition. A former back-to-back EuroLeague Rising Star, he moved his talents to the NBA from 2014 to 2019, logging 359 appearances, spread between the Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks, and New Orleans Pelicans.
In the 2024-25 season, Mirotic tallied 17.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.3 blocks per EuroLeague contest. At the domestic level, he tallied 15.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game with the team guided by Ettore Messina.
Adding to his current total of 276 games played in the EuroLeague, between Olimpia Milan, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, his next challenge is with Monaco.
