They hosted a home show at a sold-out town hall that consisted of eight competitive bouts, as well as three exhibition matches, following some last-minute opponent withdrawals.

The Wee County crowd were out in force to back their local fighters, and their energy was matched in the ring as each of Alloa’s eight boxers emerged victorious.

Max McDonald, aged nine, kicked off proceedings for the Bowmar Community Centre based club, against an opponent from Beath Boxing Club, before William Boyle delivered one of the evening’s standout performances.

The 16-year-old went head-to-head with a tough Ukrainian competitor from Edinburgh’s highly-regarded Lochend Boxing Club, and boxed smartly on the front foot, “showcasing maturity beyond his years and exceptional ring IQ” according to head coach, John Whyte, to deliver a “masterclass in the bout of the night”.

Eva Hynd continued her strong form with another impressive victory against a skilled opponent from south of the border, whilst Richard McDonald, Casey Baird and Leon Hutchison also picked up well-earned wins.

JC Whelan entertained those watching ringside in an action-packed bout, landing some heavy shots in a thrilling win, and the exhibition fights proved to be just as exciting.

Brandon Sutherland and Sol Savoury both impressed with high-energy performances, whilst Lennon Murray, returning after a year out, gave a dominant display to provide a reminder of why he is considered one of the country’s top young talents.

Reece McCormack capped off the event with a headline contest against a tricky opponent from Barrhead, and stuck to his game plan, working both head and body with sharp combinations, to secure a solid victory.
