American brand Monta updates its Triumph model for the first time since 2017.
It’s slightly wider, slightly more water-resistant and has a more refined dial aesthetic.
It still comes paired with Monta’s superb three-link bracelet.

Based out of St. Louis, Missouri, Monta launched with its Oceanking model, which utilised Eterna calibre 39 movements and offers premium levels of fit and finish, making them punch way above their weight class. This made Monta one of the first small independent brands based in the United States to offer a more premium Swiss-made watch in the microbrand space. A decade on, and Monta is still around, impressing watch fans with its fully articulating three-link bracelet, well-executed finishing, and designs that manage to strike a balance between being unique while maintaining a widespread appeal. There were some initial struggles for the brand, but it managed to sustain success with its Triumph model, which is now receiving a V2 update.

Monta Triumph 2025 1

First launched in 2017 as Monta’s take on the “go anywhere, do anything” watch, the Triumph line managed to resonate with an even wider audience, cementing the brand’s place with both enthusiasts interested in smaller brands, in addition to a more general clientele. The Triumph, alongside the Oceanking, has been one of the two cornerstone models for the brand, serving as the launching point for their Atlas, Noble, and Skyquest models. Since its launch, the Triumph had remained largely unchanged – meaning it was high time for an update.

Monta Triumph 2025 Lume
2025 sees the release of a completely revamped Monta Triumph. The new case measures slightly wider at 40mm in diameter, 47mm lug-to-lug, and 10.7mm thick. The new case features crown guards on either side of the Monta signed screw-down crown, making for a sportier, more robust-looking design. Another improvement to the case is that the Triumph now has 200 meters of water resistance, 50 meters more than the previous generation’s 150 meters. The case finishing features vertically brushed lugs with a polished bevelled edge, a fully polished bezel, and polished crown guards.

The new dial features applied indices with large numerals for 3 and 9, all filled with Super-LumiNova. The sword-style hands are also filled with Super-LumiNova, with a lumed tip for the seconds hand.  The brushed steel bracelet has Monta’s signature fully articulating links, a polished bevelled outer edge, and comes with a deployment clasp featuring a quick-adjustment system. Inside the case is the Monta calibre M-22, a modified Sellita SW300 that operates at 4Hz, has a 56-hour power reserve, and has a date display at 6 o’clock.

Closing thoughts

Monta Triumph new 2025 CB

Overall, it appears that this newly designed Triumph brings the overall design language closer to the Oceanking and Skyquest with its wider case and the addition of crown-guards. The large 3 and 9 numerals display a clear influence of another GADA favourite, with the polished bezel making it more suitable for potential formal affairs. I think Mr. Fleming would approve.
