The initiative was part of the school’s support for Young Minds’ nationwide #HelloYellow campaign, aimed at highlighting the importance of mental health and emotional wellbeing among young people.

From bright socks and ribbons to sunny badges and t-shirts, students and staff showed their solidarity on October 10, while raising money for Young Minds, a UK charity dedicated to supporting the mental health of children and young people.

Principal Rob Forder said: “It was wonderful to see our students and staff embracing the #HelloYellow campaign with such positivity and enthusiasm.

“At Lift New Forest, we believe in creating a safe, open environment where conversations about mental health are encouraged and supported.

“This campaign is a simple yet powerful reminder that no one should feel alone in how they’re feeling.”

The school’s pupils also shared their thoughts on the importance of the #HelloYellow campaign.

Libby said: “It is important to make people more aware of mental health and how people should not be ashamed of any struggles they might have.”

Lizzie added: “Emotion is a big part of a child’s life and should never be overlooked.”

Katy said: “It is good because young people’s mental health is so important but loads of people overlook it.”

Ashlee expressed a personal insight, saying: “You don’t have to control your thoughts – you just have to stop letting them control you.”

India concluded with a message of compassion, stating: “It is important to be kind to everyone you meet; you never know what they are going through – kindness goes a long way.”

The school extended its thanks to all who participated, dressed up, and donated, helping to propagate the message that mental health matters and it’s always okay to ask for help.
