Manly Warringah Sea Eagles prop Josh Aloiai has been forced into early retirement after failing to recover from an ongoing shoulder injury.

The 29-year-old has suffered significant damage to his right shoulder over recent seasons, leaving him unable to perform at the standard required for NRL competition.

The NRL has agreed to retire Aloiai on medical grounds, meaning he will not see out the final two years of his contract at the Club.

The Samoa international was forced from the field midway through the first half in Manly’s Round 13 victory over the Broncos at 4 Pines Park this season, in what would be his 164th and final NRL game.

Aloiai joined the Sea Eagles in 2021 after playing five seasons with the Wests Tigers.

Sea Eagles CEO Tony Mestrov has thanked Josh for his contribution to the game.

“We wish Josh and his family the very best with their future,” said Mestrov.

He gave his all in his five years here at Manly, displaying resilience and professionalism.
