The day service, which is run by charity Making Space, is expected to close in January 2026.

It is located on Allen Street.

The news has been confirmed this week – but concerns have been raised that those who rely on the service will have ‘nowhere to go’.

Explaining the decision, a spokesperson for Warrington Borough Council and NHS Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board said: “Allen Street is a daytime service to offer short-term support for people with mental health issues, run by Making Space.

“A review of the service and others in the town found that there is now some overlap with other services available. It was also noted that the number of people using the service had reduced over time.

“Following discussions between the council, Making Space, and NHS Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board, it has been agreed that the service will close. The date for the closure is expected to be January 2026.

“We appreciate that this will be a significant change for some people, we plan to work with Making Space and those that currently attend the service to support them over the next weeks.

“We will be contacting everyone currently attending or on the waitlist for the service to provide support and guidance to help them find alternatives.”
