A baby crocodile has shut down a hotel pool before being detained by staff.
The infant estuarine (saltwater) crocodile was spotted in the pool at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort in Port Douglas, north Queensland, on Saturday.
Lisa Keller, who was staying at the hotel, quickly took a video of the croc on the pool’s floor to post to social media.

“I don’t want to alarm anyone but there’s a crocodile in the Sheraton pool,” she said in the video.
Other footage shows other guests not giving the crocodile much attention and deciding to still lounge by the pool.
“Update: Not a single person cares,” she wrote.
In another video posted to TikTok, the crocodile — dubbed Carlos — was shown slowly swimming around the pool while staff set up a perimeter to keep guests from entering the water.
“@tee_smyth We had a free croc show at the #SheratonMiragePortDouglas♬ original sound – ⭐️🎶JustMusic🎶⭐️”
It then shows staff smiling while they carry the small crocodile away from the pool with electrical tape around its mouth.
While not as deadly as adult saltwater crocodiles, infants still have enough power to do serious damage.
However, a number of social media users were far from afraid, instead deciding the tiny croc was “so cute”.
“Poor baby just wanted to play,” one user wrote.
“OMG this would make my day,” a second commented.
A third added: “he’s just a little bloke!”
“Think he’ll give the Sheraton a bomb review for cutting his holiday short,” they added.
Despite the cuteness, the Port Douglas Shire Council warns holidaymakers “are responsible for your own safety”.
It urges steps to be taken to remain Croc-Wise, including to “never swim in water where crocodiles may live, even if there is no warning sign present”.
“Never provoke, harass or interfere with crocodiles — even small ones,” the website reads.
