This week marks 3 decades of entertainment, sport and news from Foxtel…. and TV Tonight is giving away the presents.
EXCLUSIVE:
On Thursday Foxtel will reach its 30th birthday in Australia.
That’s three decades of local commissions, entertainment, sport and news.
Across the week TV Tonight will be marking the occasion with a look back on content and technology, revolutionising the way Australians were informed and entertained.
There will also be major giveaways of 12 months subscription to Foxtel* to three lucky readers.
Sam Neill: “I am always happy to work with Foxtel. We go back a whiles. This week we remember the great Brian Walsh who was absolutely central to everything that Foxtel did, and we look forward to seeing the upcoming documentary about the man himself The Great Entertainer. Our latest foray was ’The Twelve. Cape Rock Killers’, and of course don’t forget to catch up on that one on none other than Foxtel if you are in Australia.”
Brooke Satchwell said: “Foxtel is family to me. Front and back of ‘house’. Honoured to share a ‘Professional Birthday’ – it is heartwarming and humbling to reflect upon the opportunities, relationships and growth afforded by Foxtel at this 30 year milestone. Foxtel’s passion for creating rich, world class, home grown content has educated, lifted and inspired me both as an artist and audience member. From the sustained nurturing and evolutionary professional space they hold for our industry practitioners to the stories of ‘us’ that have hit home with Australian audiences – the commitment is real. By consistently and courageously investing whole heartedly in OUR questions, our heart, humour, dynamism, integrity and whimsy – Foxtel continues to deliver proof we don’t have to compromise ourselves to resonate globally. This will be forever encapsulated for me by a memory from the dwindling hours of an AACTA Awards where I found myself standing in Fox Studios car park alone, exhausted, shredded hem from hastily magic taped last minute alteration, a malfunctioning transport app and a statue…. There was Walshie. ‘Come on mate – I’ll give you a lift’. Somehow it came about that all 3 passengers (our Uber driver Ray included) were Scorpios (roll your eyes if you want) – but what ensued was an thoughtful, hilarious, genuine, open conversation about all things life and being human as 3 spontaneously connected passengers travelled home in the dark. Happy Birthday to all at Foxtel and many, many thanks. Go you good thing.”
FOX Footy Sarah Jones: “Being part of FOX Footy’s team has been life changing. As the first female to host an AFL match on Australian TV I’ve been given opportunities to blaze a trail in the sport I love. Our incredible team continues to set the bar for sports broadcasting so high and it’s a great honour to be part of it. Nothing quite beats the thrill of going live on air from a packed MCG at a big final.”
Lara Pitt: FOX League presenter: “Reflecting on 18 incredible years at the Foxtel group the highlights are many but I have to go back to where it all started in the FOX Sports News room. I was fortunate to spend six years in the first & only 24-hour Sports News channel, learning from some exceptional producers, journalists & presenters. That time prepared me for the move into the FOX League team where the opportunities have been beyond my wildest dreams. From co-hosting League Life, working across every flagship show, to more recently taking our broadcast to the bright lights of Las Vegas – it’s been one hell of a ride!”
Brendon Julian, FOX Cricket commentator: Working for Foxtel and FOX Sports has been a major part of my life. I’ve been there over 20 years and watched it grow from nothing to where it is today, creating and launching BBL Cricket and turning that into $100 million product is something that we can all be very proud of. Showing every ball of the cricket summer live has been a massive highlight and privilege. And finally, being part of the 2012 Olympic summer games is something that I will always remember in London.”
