While big Hollywood names were glammed up for the Academy Museum Gala in LA, stars and socialites were doing the same over the pond in London.

Saturday marked the inaugural British Museum ‘Pink Ball’ – and with bold outfits and a star-studded guest list, it’s already been dubbed ‘London’s answer to the Met Gala’.

Hosted by the British Museum, the fundraising event celebrated the venue’s Ancient India: Living Traditions exhibition, and attracted stars including Janet Jackson, Mick Jagger, Naomi Campbell and the stylish nieces of the late Princess Diana.

Like their aunty before them, the Spencer sisters well and truly turned heads on arrival.

Twins Lady Amelia and Lady Eliza wholeheartedly embraced the pink theme – Amelia was decked out in red rose motifs, with a bold pink sash tied around her waist, while Eliza sparkled from head to toe in a glomesh-esque design.

Meanwhile, big sister Lady Kitty brought a touch of showgirl glamour, teaming her baby pink gown with a large feathered shawl draped over her arms.

British royalty of a different kind was also in attendance.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell hit the pink carpet in a lace Union Jack dress by Givenchy that flowed down well past her feet.

There was also a bit of a Jagger family reunion as guests assembled.

Rolling Stones icon Mick Jagger hit the pink carpet with his fiancee Melanie Hamrick, who wore an off-the-shoulder gown with an embroidered bodice.

Jagger’s ex-partner, American actress and model Jerry Hall, also scored an invite, teaming a black gown with a fur coat in a vivid raspberry hue.

Hall was joined by daughter Elizabeth Jagger, the eldest of the former couple’s four children, who’s also carved out a name as a model, actress and activist.

The Brits were certainly well represented, but Hall wasn’t the only American star who made the guest list.

Janet Jackson was a vision in her red gown, featuring deep folds of fabric.

She teamed the dramatic dress with a towering updo.

“The British Museum Ball was intended to celebrate London – a city renowned for its arts, culture, creativity and style,” the museum’s director Dr Nicholas Cullinan said after the gala.

“Tonight’s event did just that by bringing together the actors, artists, collectors, creatives, designers and writers that make our city a cultural powerhouse.”
