DON’T rule out the prospect of weather spicing up another bout of Supercars racing this weekend.
The Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 marks the category’s first ever finals round, whereby three of the 10 drivers who made the playoffs cut will be eliminated from title contention.
Supercars is riding the momentum from a sensational Repco Bathurst 1000 on October 12, and the possibility of the heavens opening combined with a high-stakes showdown could make for another tantalising race weekend.
At the time of publication, the Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting a 60 percent chance of rain for Sunday and up to 5mm.
While not a heap, that could still be enough to wreak havoc at the Surfers Paradise concrete canyon.
There hasn’t been a fully wet Gold Coast Supercars race since severe storms cancelled the Sunday leg in 2018. The Saturday race in 2017 ran the full distance in the wet.
