The Washington Commanders will be without quarterback Jayden Daniels for Monday night’s matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Multiple reports state that Daniels is dealing with a low-grade hamstring strain after he suffered the injury early in the second half of their Week 7 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Daniels missed Weeks 3 and 4 with a knee injury and returned for a win and a loss in Weeks 5 and 6, respectively.

Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said on Monday that an MRI showed Daniels avoided a “significant or long-term” injury to the hamstring.

Marcus Mariota will get the start in place of Daniels. He has appeared in three games this season, throwing for 426 yards, 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions with a 60.3% completion percentage.

Good news for the Ravens coming out of their bye week. Quarterback Lamar Jackson, who has been out since injuring his hamstring Sept. 28, returned to practice on Wednesday.

Jackson hasn’t played since suffering a hamstring injury in a Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The two-time MVP has missed Baltimore’s last two games as the Ravens have dropped to 1-5. Head coach John Harbaugh said after a Week 6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams that he expected Jackson to return to face the Chicago Bears following the bye week.

The Washington Commanders have ruled out starting quarterback Jayden Daniels for Week 8’s MNF contest against the Kansas City Chiefs, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday.

This now marks the third game missed for Daniels this season, having already sat out Weeks 3 and 4 with a hamstring issue. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that the injury is not considered long-term.

Veteran Marcus Mariota will get the start in his place for Week 8, having gone 1-1 in his two starts for Daniels previously this season.

Mariota has gone 35-of-58 for 426 passing yards, 3 TD and 2 INT, while adding 94 yards and a score on the ground between his two starts and the 21 snaps he played in relief of Daniels in Week 7 after he exited with injury.

Are the Giants’ kicking woes about to be fixed? We’ll see as Graham Gano will be back at practice this week after missing four games with a groin injury.

Despite signing Younghoe Koo, who was released by the Falcons, to the practice squad the Giants went with Jude McAtamney as their kicker. While McAtamney went 2-for-2 in field goals, he missed three extra points in their past two games, including two attempts during their 33-32 loss to the Broncos.

McAtamney was released on Tuesday.

The veteran Gano, 38, has not missed an extra point since 2022and is 26-for-34 from field goal range over the last three seasons with the Giants.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn did not say who will start at quarterback against the Bengals on Sunday. After owner Woody Johnson’s comments on Tuesday and the play of Justin Fields, it looked like Tyrod Taylor would get his shot at QB1.

For now, that decision remains in the air as Taylor is now dealing with a knee injury.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue to battle injuries. Days after losing star wideout Mike Evans to a broken collarbone, the team still has multiple key players sitting out of practice.

Wide receiver Chris Godwin and running back Bucky Irving are among the star players who were not practicing Wednesday, per FoxSports’ Greg Auman.

Haasan Reddick and Luke Goedeke remain out for the Buccaneers as well.

The team finds itself in a tough spot in Week 8. The Buccaneers are on bye in Week 9, and could opt to hold players out through the bye week to ensure they come back fully healthy in Week 10.

But the team still needs some talent on the field when it squares off against the New Orleans Saints in Week 8.

The New York Jets might be 0-7, but help is on the way. Star linebacker Quincy Williams was designated to return from Injured Reserve on Wednesday.

Williams, 29, has been sidelined since September due to a shoulder injury.

Williams is among the team’s best defensive players. After making the All-Pro team in 2023, Williams turned in yet another solid year in 2024. He was out to a strong start this season, notching 15 tackles and 1.5 sacks in three games before his injury.

Williams could set a new career-high for sacks this season. He’s already halfway to matching his previous high of three sacks, which he accomplished in 2022.

Though there’s been reported interest, including from the Dallas Cowboys, the Las Vegas Raiders apparently aren’t interested in trading Maxx Crosby. The feeling, according to the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, is also mutual.

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers requested a trade in August, and he told reporters Tuesday that he’s still interested in playing elsewhere.

When asked about the trade deadline, he said he has no control over it.

“If I’m here, I’m here,” he said, per ESPN’s Ryan McFadden.

Meyers was then asked if he still wants to be traded?

“Oh, for sure,” Meyers said, according to McFadden. “But I’m a professional at the end of the day. I’m just trying to play good football.”

The New York Giants have cut kicker Jude McAtamney after he missed two extra points in Sunday’s collapse against the Denver Broncos, according to multiple reports.

Either Younghoe Koo or Graham Gano project to kick for the Giants in Sunday’s game against the Eagles.

McAtamney missed two extra points in Sunday’s 33-32 loss. The Giants held a 19-0 lead after three quarters, but allowed the Broncos to score 33 points in the fourth.

The Giants scored a go-ahead touchdown with 37 seconds remaining in the game. But McAtamney missed the extra point, limiting New York’s lead to 32-30. The Broncos responded with a drive to set up a game-winning field goal as time expired.

The Raiders are off until their Nov. 2 matchup against the Jaguars, but there was a good sign on Tuesday with wide receiver Jakobi Meyers and tight end Brock Bowers hitting the practice field.

Both missed Week 7 with knee injuries with Bowers not having played since Week 4. Also dealing with a knee injury is defensive end Maxx Crosby, who left Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs.

Head coach Pete Carroll said Monday that he expects all three to return after the bye.

J.J. McCarthy (ankle) will serve as the emergency QB3 again. The short week means that the Vikings will not play again until Nov. 2 against the Lions.

Head coach Kevin O’Connell said if the game was scheduled for Sunday, McCarthy may have been an option to start. “He’s just not there,” O’Connell said.

In four games this season Wentz has a 66.9% completion percentage with 5 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. He’s also been sacked 14 times.

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix sustained an injury in the team’s Week 7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, but it shouldn’t keep him out in Week 8.

Despite a bone bruise, Penix is expected to take on the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

Penix has had moments of brilliance in his first season as a full-time starter. Though six games, he’s thrown for 1,409 yards, with five touchdowns against three interceptions. He has just one multi-touchdown game so far.

On the off chance Penix can’t go Sunday, he would be replaced by Kirk Cousins under center.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers struggled against the Detroit Lions on Monday, and lost star receiver Mike Evans in the process. But help is on the way.

Bucky Irving and Chris Godwin are “getting better,” though it’s unclear whether either player will return to practice ahead of Week 8, head coach Todd Bowles said.

Irving has been sidelined since Week 4 with foot and shoulder injuries.

Godwin has played in just two games this season due to an injured fibula.

Despite those injuries, the Bucs have excelled this season. Following Monday’s loss, Tampa Bay sits at 5-2 heading into Week 8.

If the team is going to continue its playoff surge, it will have to do it without Evans. The star wideout reportedly broke his collarbone and will miss the majority of the season. Evans, however, could return to the team in time for the playoffs, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

It sounds like San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is on track to miss another game. Head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Monday that Purdy is likely a reach to play against the Houston Texans.

If he doesn’t play Sunday, Purdy will have missed six of San Francisco’s eight games this season. Despite his absence and several significant injuries on the roster, the 49ers are off to a 5-2 start.

Mac Jones, who has played in five games in Purdy’s absence, would project to start against the Texans if Purdy can’t go.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans will make his return to the field on Monday Night Football against the Detroit Lions. Evans has been out for the last three games, dealing with a bad hamstring.

With Chris Godwin and rookie wideout Emeka Egbuka ruled out for the game, this is a huge boost for a shorthanded Buccaneers offense.
