WEST POINT, Miss. — Vanderbilt women’s golf finished in third place this week at The Ally, totaling 5-under par over 54 holes. The Commodores edged Ole Miss by one stroke to nab the podium. Elizabeth Rudisill tied for eighth place individually with a 4-under total.
“We certainly didn’t have our best today, but I’m proud of the effort and attitude we played with,” said head coach Greg Allen. “Old Waverly played tough today.”
Ava Merrill led the Commodores on the final day, carding an even-par round to close out the tournament in twelfth place. Sara Im, tying for 18th place, shot 1-over par on Wednesday. Rudisill went 2-over par on the day.
In her first lineup start of the season, Angelina Tolentino finished 2-over par through the three-day event. Her 2-over final round tied her for 18th individually. Lynn Lim notched a 76 to wrap up the tournament.
For Vanderbilt individuals, Tillie Claggett also tied for 18th at 2-over par off the back of a final round 75. Kathryn Ha shot a 76 to take 31st place.
“I didn’t think we played that poorly, we just didn’t make the birdies we made yesterday,” said Allen.
Vanderbilt tied for second in total birdies, holing 50 throughout the tournament. Florida led with 56. The Commodores finished first in par-4 average.
Vanderbilt now heads into the winter, preparing for the spring season and its championship tournaments. The Commodores finished on the podium in all four events this fall, taking home first place in their own Mason Rudolph Championship and at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate. They will take the tee next at the Puerto Rico Classic in February.
