Deborra-Lee Furness is reportedly preparing to release a “bold and emotional” memoir following her split from ex-husband Hugh Jackman.
The Australian actress was spotted meeting with a leading publisher in Midtown Manhattan earlier this week, according to celebrity reporter Rob Shuter.
A publishing insider told Shuter that Furness “was all smiles” as she left the building, though the meeting “looked serious.”
Friends of the Force of Nature star said multiple publishers are competing for her story- a “bold, emotional memoir about love, identity, and starting over.”
“She’s reclaiming her voice,” one friend said.
“She spent years being known as Hugh’s wife. Now she wants to be known for her truth.”
Furness, 69, and Jackman, 57, first met on the set of the Australian TV show Correlli in 1995, and were married just a year later.
The couple, who share two adult children, Oscar, 24, and Ava, 19, stunned fans in 2023 when they announced the end of their 27-year marriage.
Although their divorce was finalised in late May, reports suggest tensions lingered behind the scenes.
Not long after the split, The Real Macaw star appeared to hint at “betrayal” in a pointed public message.
“My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,” she said at the time, as quoted by The Mail.
“It’s a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.”
Earlier this year, a source told Radar Online that Furness had been “writing down all her thoughts” and “logging every detail” throughout her separation and divorce.
“As soon as her lawyers allow it, she will be talking to publishers about a deal,” the source claimed.
Though the details of the former Aussie power couple’s split remain murky, many signs point to Jackman’s departure from Furness for his new partner, Sutton Foster, whom he first met in 2021 while co-starring in the Broadway revival of The Music Man.
Since their separation, Jackman has reportedly moved into Foster’s Chelsea apartment, while Furness now splits her time between Sydney and Manhattan.
And in a pointed bit of timing, as Furness sat down with publishers this week, Jackman and Foster made their public debut as a couple-Â stepping out together at two high-profile New York events.
On Monday, the pair were photographed smiling at the Fetch Pet Gala at The Carlyle Hotel, before attending Richard Marx’s After Hours Confession show the following night at Café Carlyle.
Jackman later posted photos from the show, writing: “If you’re in NYC this week and want to watch a Master Class on how to entertain an audience as only @therichardmarx can … go see him at the @rosewoodthecarlyle! Don’t miss it.”
Foster shared a similar post on her Instagram stories: “Richard Marx was incredible at the Carlyle! With a kick ass band, amazing stories, effortless vocals and commanding charm.”
