George Clooney is downplaying a recent revelation that has shocked many.
The Academy Award-winning actor admits he did his share of drugs years ago. Although he experimented with plenty of substances, George says it was far from an addiction, adding, “It was never a big issue for me at all.”
George recalled often getting high on weed-filled brownies about 15 years ago. He added that he was never really into marijuana. Years before he started frequenting weed, the actor admits he tried some harder drugs.

Acting has been the main part of George’s life for so long, but there was a time when he enjoyed his share of potent substances.
Before his career really took off, he recalls trying one notable drug. “Eighty-two, I tried — I did blow and stuff,” George admitted to Esquire. He notes that there was an episode of Taxi where everyone was doing blow. He says that at the time, no one considered it addictive, unlike heroin. “But then it was like, ‘Oh, well, it’s actually pretty f*cking bad,’” adds George. He says that the blow was cut from manitol and that everybody back then would do a line.
While he says he never had drug or alcohol addiction problems, he admits there was a time when he’d get pretty toasty because of this.
Over the summer, George had to withdraw from the Venice Film Festival due to illness. It was later revealed to be a sinus infection.
His new movie, Jay Kelly, debuted at that festival, earning rave reviews for both George and his co-star, Adam Sandler. It was nominated for the Golden Lion Award during the Venice Festival.
Jay Kelly will be released in US theatres on November 14 before coming to Netflix on December 5.
