Manchester United are a team transformed, with a 4-2 win over Brighton on Saturday making it three consecutive wins for Ruben Amorim’s men.
The Red Devils endured a tough campaign last season, but after a shaky start in 2025-26 now look to be much-improved and moving up the Premier League table.
United signed Benjamin Sesko in the summer to be the focal point of the team’s attack, while fellow new additions Bryan Mbuemo and Matheus Cunha both scored against Brighton.

However, despite the attacking reinforcements from the last window, the Old Trafford outfit continue to be linked with new forwards in the transfer market.

The Mirror state United have been keeping an eye on Robert Lewandowski’s contract situation at Barcelona, but co-owner Jim Ratcliffe has vetoed a deal to bring the veteran to Manchester.
The Polish hitman is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, with speculation he will leave the Spanish champions for a new challenge elsewhere.
The report suggests Amorim was keen to bring Lewandowski to United to add experience and goals to his squad, but has been overruled in the decision.
Right call, Lewandowski is too old
While Lewandowski must be looked at as one of the best strikers of a generation, the former Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich forward will be 38 next August.
United have already had their issues with bringing ageing attackers to Old Trafford in the twilight of their careers, with Cristiano Ronaldo’s second stint in Manchester ending in acrimonious circumstances.

There is certainly an argument to make that the Red Devils should be focused on bringing tried-and-tested players to the club, rather than young prospects, to help the team in the short-term.
However, given Lewandowski’s age, exorbitant wages and profile, United would be best advised to look at other targets.
