The Week 8 Sunday afternoon slate features 10 games, with seven kicking off in the early afternoon window and three starting in the late afternoon. Among these games are some intriguing matchups headlined by the New York Giants battling the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.

New York comes into this matchup having taken the first game of the season series two weeks ago. So, Philly will be looking to exact a little revenge and win their second consecutive game after beating Minnesota, 28-22, last week. They’ll do so without star wide receiver A.J. Brown, who was ruled out for Week 8 with a hamstring injury. The Giants are looking to bounce back after letting a big one slip away in Denver last week.

In the afternoon window, the Dallas Cowboys will take on the Broncos. The Broncos were in full comeback mode in Week 7, scoring 33 points in the fourth quarter to sneak by the Giants, hoping to keep that momentum going sunday. Quarterback Bo Nix scored four touchdowns, with two coming through the air and two on the ground. This Week 8 matchup could come down to whichever team has the ball last.

Dallas is also coming off a dominating win over Washington, 44-22. Dak Prescott passed for 264 yards and touchdowns with no turnovers. Running back Javonte Williams added 116 rushing yards with a touchdown, while CeeDee Lamb had five receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown.

It seems very likely that the Giants could be without breakout rookie running back Cam Skattebo for the remainder of the year, suffering what appeared to be a gruesome ankle injury in the second quarter.

Skattebo had scored the Giants’ lone touchdown so far in Week 8, with 12 rushing yards on three carries and an 18-yard end-zone reception that he took to the house.

Skattebo was the Giants’ leading rusher entering Week 7, with 90-plus scrimmage yards in each of his past five starts, scoring in three of those outings. Now, the Giants’ 2024 rushing leader, Tyrone Tracy Jr., is likely in line for the bulk of carries moving forward, with veteran Devin Singletary next in line.

Tracy Jr. totaled 1,123 scrimmage yards and six touchdowns in 2024 as a rookie, with 230 touches over 17 games.

It wouldn’t be a week in the NFL if there weren’t some type of drama surrounding the tush push.

The league has admitted that the play is a nightmare to officiate, and Week 8 just gave those around the league a bit more ammo toward the argument to ban it.

Early in the second quarter, the Eagles attempt the play on fourth-and-1, and it appears that Jalen Hurts loses control of the ball, which is recovered by the Giants.

Unfortunately for New York, the officials ruled that the play had been ruled a successful first down due to forward progress.

Giants head coach Brian Daboll is big mad. He threw the challenge flag, and the call stood. New York, as such, loses a timeout.

The Baltimore Ravens score their first touchdown of the day — this time, a goal-line run from future Hall of Fame running back Derrick Henry on the second offensive drive of the game.

Tyler Huntley, getting his first start of the year with Lamar Jackson out due to a hamstring injury, has been efficient as a passer so far, completing all six of his pass attempts for 59 yards.

Through the Ravens’ first two drives, WR Zay Flowers leads the team with three catches for 34 receiving yards.

Henry is averaging 0.67 rushing touchdowns per game — his fewest since his 2017 season with the Tennessee Titans, where he split work with DeMarco Murray.

The New York Giants are officially on the board as Jaxson Dart & Co. drive 52 yards down the field for their first touchdown of the game.

It was almost all Dart and rookie running back Cam Skattebo on that drive, as Dart and Skattebo combined for 16 rushing yards before Dart found veteran WR Darius Slayton for a 19-yard completion.

The Giants capped off the drive with an 18-yard completion over the middle, which Skattebo runs into the end zone, untouched.

That now makes back-to-back weeks that the two have connected for a touchdown, as Skattebo housed a 13-yard pass from Dart in last week’s loss to the Broncos.

Veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins made his first start since being benched in favor of 2024 first-rounder Michael Penix Jr. on Sunday, but left plenty to be desired on their opening drive of the game.

Running back Bijan Robinson had back-to-back one-yard runs, followed by a five-yard completion from Cousins to TE Kyle Pitts Sr. before electing to punt.

Three and out.
