The Business Council of Australia has rejected the Coalition’s push to split nature protections from Labor’s overhaul of federal environment laws, and urged Opposition Leader Sussan Ley to go back to the negotiating table.
Environment Minister Murray Watt will on Thursday introduce a major overhaul of environmental laws aimed at hastening approvals, while also giving a new national environmental protection agency powers to prevent the destruction of nature and punish lawbreakers.
