Racing 92 Stuns Pau 15-10, Jumps 5 Places | Top 14 Club Of The Week

Racing 92 proved their prowess after defeating last week’s Top 14 chart-topper Pau in a 15-10 match at Stade Dominique Duvauchelle.

Five penalty goals won Racing 92 the match, despite Pau’s two tries. The scrappy win bumped Racing 92 from tenth all the way to fifth.

Racing 92 spent some time in the bottom half of the table and entered the match off a 21-45 loss to Toulon at the end of Round 7. Their play has been solid but lacked explosiveness. Luckily, they found the X-factor at the perfect time.

Pau sat atop the Top 14 table for two consecutive weeks. Feeling confident, Pau put the first points on the board at minute ten with a try by Gailleton. They spent 53 minutes in the lead until Racing 92 put up their fourth penalty goal to find a two-point lead, eventually adding another for a 15-10 win.

The match exemplified Racing 92’s grit. Pau has been the club to beat in recent weeks, and fans likely didn’t think Le Racing would be the one to do it.
