In another significant boost to the Blues’ revamped football department, Boak joins the Blues in a Leadership and Culture role.

The newly created role will see the highly respected former Port Adelaide captain work closely with the Club’s playing group and wider football department three days a week on leadership and cultural development.

Across a 19-year playing career, six of those as skipper of the Power, Boak earned a reputation across the AFL industry as one of the great leaders of the modern era.

An elite footballer in his own right as a three-time All Australian, two-time best and fairest winner and three-time Showdown Medallist, Boak’s experience in developing a high-quality leadership and performance culture will make him a significant addition to IKON Park.

I am passionate about leadership and helping players not only grow in this space but thrive, while getting the absolute best of themselves in high-pressure environments – I can’t wait to get to work with this group.

“I was so fortunate to be presented with a number of opportunities since retiring, but this new position at Carlton and the direction in which Graham Wright, Chris Davies and Michael Voss are looking to take the football program was a clear standout for me: I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to be part of this,” Boak said.

“I am passionate about leadership and helping players not only grow in this space but thrive, while getting the absolute best of themselves in high-pressure environments – I can’t wait to get to work with this group.

“It is really clear to me that this Club has a clear direction, a strong vision and most importantly total alignment on what that looks like across the board, which was a massive reason why I wanted to be part of what is building here at the Blues.

“I am looking forward to playing my role in doing everything we can to build the environment to help us achieve success.”

Carlton General Manager of Football Chris Davies said to attract a person of Boak’s quality will be significant in shaping the Club’s leadership development.

“Having worked with Travis for over a decade, I’ve seen first-hand his professionalism, leadership capabilities and commitment to helping those around him grow both as people and athletes,” Davies said.

“Travis will be an invaluable sounding board for our leaders and broader playing group, driving a renewed focus on culture and standards within our department as a whole.

“Along with the experience and diverse skillset we have added to our coaching structure for 2026, Travis’ skill and dedication make him the ideal mentor for our players, exemplifying what it takes to perform at an elite level every week.

“His influence will help us to continue challenging ourselves to improve daily and uphold the environment we want to build at Carlton as we head into the 2026 season.”
