MULTIPLE cars have been collected in a crash at the start of the second race for the Trico Trans Am Series at Sandown Raceway.

On a damp track following overnight rain, multiple cars squeezed together on the run to the first corner.

Elliot Barbour was eliminated on the spot, while the cars of Ben Bargwanna and Cameron Laws retired to the pits due to damage received.

Nathan Herne pitted and briefly returned to the circuit before being classified as a non-finisher with radiator damage. He later accepted blame for the accident.

Lahclan Evennett was also involved in the squeeze, but raced on.

John Holinger was the last car to enter the melee; however, he was able to continue on in the race.

Ultimately, Holinger and Chase Hoy would each incur a 5-second penalty for starting out of position at the green flag drop.
