The Utah Mammoth are locking up one of their brightest young stars long-term.
Logan Cooley signed an eight-year, $80 million contract extension with the Mammoth, the team announced Wednesday.
The contract carries a $10 million AAV.
“Logan is not only an incredible player but an even better person and we look forward to watching him grow,” general manager Bill Armstrong said in a statement released by the team. “He, along with the rest of our core group, will have an impact in Utah for many years to come.”
Cooley, 21, was selected by the Arizona Coyotes third overall in the 2022 NHL Draft prior to relocation.
He broke out for 25 goals and 65 points in 75 games in his sophomore year, and now playing his third season in the NHL, Cooley has 12 points (eight goals, four assists) in 11 games, helping the Mammoth to a staggering 8-3 start — good for first in the Central Division.
The Pittsburgh native was selected by the Arizona Coyotes third overall in the 2022 NHL Draft prior to relocation.
