The South Sydney Rabbitohs are delighted to announce the contract extension of second rower Thomas Fletcher for the 2026 and 2027 seasons today.

Fletcher, 21, made his NRL debut against the Broncos in round 22 this year, going on to play four NRL games in his debut season.

Fletcher, Rabbitohs first grade player number 1212 who has been a Rabbitohs Member since he was a child, represented the Australian Schoolboys in 2022 before making his mark in the NRL in 2025.

Rabbitohs Head of Recruitment and Retention, Mark Ellison, says the retention of Fletcher is a positive for the Club.

“Thomas is a rising player in our ranks who has come through the grades at South Sydney to represent the Club in the NRL,” Mr Ellison said.

“He is still very young in terms of his development as a forward in the NRL, but has shown in the handful of games that he has played that he is able to match it in the top grade.

“With further learning, development and commitment to his football, he has what it takes to play more football in our NRL forward pack.

“Tom has supported the Rabbitohs all of his life so it is wonderful to see him play in the jersey that he admires so much.

“We are delighted to have extended Tom’s tenure with the Club and we look forward to continuing our work with him here at South Sydney.”

Fletcher is very happy to be remaining in the red and green.

“I’ve been a Rabbitohs fan since I was kid so to be able to represent the Club, our members and our fans is a dream come true for me. It played a big part in me making my decision to stay at Souths,” Fletcher said.

“I want to thank the Members and fans for being so supportive, as well as my family, my teammates, coaches and the staff at the Club.

“I’m excited about what’s ahead and working hard to play more NRL football.”
