The Miami Dolphins are discussing a Jaelan Phillips trade with multiple teams, but aren’t willing to give up the pass rusher for cheap, according to a report.
Dianna Russini of The Athletic wrote Saturday that the Dolphins are telling interested teams they want “at least a third-round pick” in exchange for Phillips. Russini listed the New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles, and San Francisco 49ers as among the suitors.

Phillips is due to become a free agent in the offseason when the rookie deal he received in 2021 expires. Given the Dolphins’ salary cap constraints and need for serious roster rebuilding, coupled with his concerning injury history, Phillips was likely playing in his last season in Miami, regardless.
His departure in free agency could earn the Dolphins a compensatory selection in the 2027 NFL draft, but moving Phillips now could mean a better pick that’s also available a year sooner.
Phillips has just three sacks through nine games this season, but he’s generated consistent pressure that puts him among some of the league’s best rushers this year.
After the Dolphins’ Thursday loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Phillips was asked about the upcoming trade deadline.

“It’s out of my control. I would love to stay here,” Jaelan Phillips told the Miami Herald. “But if I get traded, I get traded.”
The Dolphins have until Tuesday afternoon to make trades. After that, no deals can be processed until the 2026 league year begins in March.
