2026 Applications for Gravel Events on Coillte Land Now Open for Cycling Ireland Clubs

Following on from the 2025 Agreement between Coillte and Cycling Ireland to allow Gravel Cycling Events on Coillte’s forest road network, and the successful first phase execution of these events by our Clubs and Approved Promoters during the second half of 2025, we are pleased to be able to open applications for 2026 events to be operated under the same licencing agreement.

This is phase 2 of the scheme and will be used to further test and improve the application process that leads to successful events that promote both organisations including:

Building a sustainable model for future Gravel Cycling events in Ireland.Offer high-quality gravel riding experiences for Cycling Ireland members.Be managed in a sustainable manner that considers other recreational users and Coillte objectives, including management of forest operations, biodiversity and reaction infrastructure.Support local Cycling Clubs and Cycling Ireland members across the country.2026 Applications

The 2026 Application form is available here.

This completed form must be returned to the email address specified on the form on or before, the closing date – 5th December 2025.

The number of events permitted by Cycling Ireland on the Coillte Estates per year is restricted and all applications may not be successful based on estate usage and suitability of venue, restrictions for wildlife, areas of conservation, etc.

The safety of all forest users including riders is a key priority again for this phase. Coillte’s forest road network is designed, constructed and used primarily for forest operations which often involves heavy duty vehicles for the haulage of timber, transport of forest machinery, as well as vehicular access by staff and contractors.

All events under this phase must be sanctioned by Cycling Ireland and organised by approved promoters. Each event will be licensed by Coillte for a period of five days which will allow for event set up, execution and break-down.
