5 Things to Know: All Blacks v Scotland Rugby | Autumn Nations Series 2025

The New Zealand All Blacks head to Edinburgh on Saturday, Nov. 8, to face off against Scotland in Week 2 of the Autumn Nations Series.

The match kicks off at 10:10 a.m. ET at Murrayfield Stadium. Stream the action live on Peacock.

Both teams earned notable wins in Week 1 of the competition. Scotland dominated the USA with an 85-0 victory — the team’s largest winning margin in history.

New Zealand, meanwhile, defeated Ireland 26-13 at Soldier Field in Chicago. Although Ireland struck first, the All Blacks surged ahead in the second half.

New Zealand currently holds the No. 2 spot in the World Rugby Rankings, trailing only South Africa. Scotland sits at No. 8 and continues to climb.

120 Years of All Blacks Dominance Over Scotland

New Zealand holds a 120-year winning streak over Scotland. Across their 32 meetings, the All Blacks have claimed 30 victories, with two matches ending in draws.

However, Scotland has been closing the gap. In 2007, New Zealand shut out Scotland 40-0, but the past two contests were much closer — 22-17 and 31-23.

Scotland hopes to continue narrowing the margin, but history remains firmly on New Zealand’s side.

Rugby Lineup News: Steyn Starts for Scotland, Savea Captains All Blacks

Scotland’s Kyle Steyn will start in place of Duhan van der Merwe, who is recovering from a knee injury. Van der Merwe scored two tries in his 50th cap against the USA but wasn’t 100% in training ahead of the All Blacks clash.

For New Zealand, captain Scott Barrett will sit out after sustaining a leg laceration during the Ireland match. Josh Lord steps into the lineup, while Ardie Savea takes over as captain. Leicester Fainga’anuku and Wallace Sititi also move into starting roles.
