It represented Boston’s first loss in Group B of the 2025 NBA Cup. The C’s are now 1-1 in the in-season tournament with games against the Detroit Pistons and Brooklyn Nets scheduled for later this month.

Brown scored 18 of his game-high 32 points (15-for-28 from the floor) in the second half while Simons scored all 11 of his points (4-for-8) in the fourth quarter.

Orlando built a 16-point lead midway through the first quarter after a scorching-hot start on the offensive end. The Magic shot 49 percent from the field and 50 percent from long range (9-for-18) in the first half. Boston overcame that deficit behind Brown and a better defensive effort in the third quarter.

A fourth-quarter bucket by Derrick White gave Boston’s its first lead since the four-minute mark of the first quarter. However, the Magic responded and closed the game on a 28-14 run in the final six minutes.
