Adelaide anchor Kate Collins is dumped after 19 years with the network.

Nine News Adelaide anchor Kate Collins has been dumped after 19 years with the network.

The Advertiser reports her contract will not be renewed.

“She’s heartbroken … she loved the job so much and she never took the privilege for granted,” a source told the newspaper.

Tonight Ragless read the news solo.

Her axing comes less than three days after fronting the Christmas Pageant coverage alongside Brenton Ragless and Jessica Braithwaite.

Collins, 41, joined Nine in 2006 as a general reporter and the following year began as a fill-in news presenter on the weekends. She replaced Nine legend Rob Kelvin in 2011 and hosted the now-defunct local edition of A Current Affair.

Earlier today it was revealed that Nine is looking to slash as many as 50 jobs from its Broadcasting and Streaming Divisions.

On Friday Nine’s Melbourne weather presenter Livinia Nixon announced her departure from Nine News after two decades.
