Introduction
As the receiver of one of our Best of Computex 2025 awards, the Gigabyte X870E Aorus Pro X3D Ice is a motherboard we’ve been keen to take a closer look at for a while, and it has finally arrived. Thankfully, despite its premium credentials and good looks, it will also leave you with plenty of change from $500.
There are some interesting new features as you’d expect from an award-winning motherboard. It has floating lower M.2 heatsinks that remove the need for supports, offering universal support for single-sided and double-sided SSDs. It’s main SSD heatsinks are now easier to install too, and the Wi-Fi driver is included in the new 64 MB BIOS so you’ll have the ability to get online straight away. There’s also X3D Turbo Mode 2.0, which claims to offer significant performance boosts to 3D V-Cache processors.
We have all this to look at as well as our usual testing, but as usual, Gigabyte has nailed it on the design as the X870E Aorus Pro X3D Ice looks fabulous. While it’s undeniably expensive, you also get all the usual tech here such as USB4, Wi-Fi 7 and full PCIe Gen 5 support. Let’s see how it performs.
