Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews went back to the locker room during the second period of Tuesday’s game against the Boston Bruins.

The 28-year-old was hit by Bruins defenceman Nikita Zadorov prior to his exit.

The Leafs trailed 4-1 at the time of Matthews’ exit.

Matthews entered tonight’s game with nine goals and five assists in 16 games played this season.
