Former Knights coach Adam O’Brien has landed a new role at the Bulldogs after the club confirmed he was joining them as an assistant for the 2026 season.

O’Brien spent six seasons at the Knights and made the finals four times, but was let go a couple of months ago after they won just six matches to claim the wooden spoon with the worst attacking record in the competition.

But the former Roosters and Storm assistant will reprise the role at Belmore where he’ll work under Cameron Ciraldo alongside fellow assistants Chad Randall and Luke Vella.

O’Brien has strong connections with a number of Bulldogs players including Sitili Tupouniua, Kurt Mann, Enari Tuala and new recruit Leo Thompson who he coached in Newcastle.

The club has also brought back respected high performance guru Trent Elkin as the athletic performance and rehabilitation lead, while Michael Kulen comes in as the attack analyst after eight seasons with Manly.
