As the NFL season enters its home stretch, the New England Patriots are in a good spot in the AFC.
Currently holding an 8-2 record, the Patriots are tied for the best record in the NFL and hold a 1.5-game lead over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East. After a handful of down years, New England is once again on the hunt for the Super Bowl.
The Patriots’ resurgence is largely due to head coach Mike Vrabel and quarterback Drake Maye. Vrabel was hired in the offseason and has already made a difference leading the team, as New England has won seven-straight games for the longest active NFL winning streak.
Maye has also taken a big step in his second year, as the former No. 3 overall pick is firmly in the mix to win this year’s MVP. The quarterback has totaled 2,555 passing yards for 19 touchdowns and five interceptions, and his development is headed in the right direction.
On Thursday night, the Patriots will host the rival New York Jets for their first matchup of the season, with these two teams headed in different directions.
The Jets started the season at 0-7 and were the last team to win an NFL game, but they have won two games in a row entering this contest. However, amid that winning streak, New York traded star CB Sauce Gardner and DT Quinnen Williams, fully committing to their rebuild.
Additionally, wide receiver Garrett Wilson will miss the next month with a knee injury, further slimming New York’s talent. That means RB Breece Hall, who has had a strong last two games, will try to lead the Jets to an upset in New England this week.
