Rockstar Games is finally opening the gates of the Wild West to a far wider audience. The studio has announced that Red Dead Redemption and its fan-favourite expansion, Undead Nightmare, will arrive on December 2, 2025, not just on Netflix’s growing game platform but also on new-age consoles and, for the first time, on iOS and Android. It’s a moment long-time fans have waited for—John Marston’s journey is stepping into the mobile era.
So what’s changing this time? Rockstar says the new update sharpens performance across the board, brings modern enhancements, and even lets existing players upgrade at no additional cost. Old save files will work too, which means returning players can pick up Marston’s story without losing a single dusty step of their old progress.

Netflix subscribers will get instant access on December 2. Once the titles go live, members can download and play both games directly through the Netflix app, marking another major push in the company’s quiet but steady gaming expansion. Touchscreen-friendly controls are built in for mobile, ensuring the experience doesn’t feel like a console port forced into a smaller screen.
On the console front, Rockstar outlined what players can expect across platforms. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S owners can look forward to 4K resolution, HDR, and a smooth 60 fps gameplay experience. Switch 2 players aren’t being left behind either—they’ll get DLSS, HDR, mouse support, and matching 60fps performance at high resolution.
Upgrades are straightforward. Anyone who already owns the PS4, Switch, or backwards-compatible Xbox One version will get the new edition free of charge. Save transfers also work seamlessly: PS4 files will carry over to PS5, while Switch saves can travel with players moving to Switch 2.
Both titles come as complete editions, packing the entire Red Dead Redemption campaign, Undead Nightmare, and all bonus content originally included in the Game of the Year bundle. Rockstar collaborated with Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games to rebuild and optimise the experience for modern hardware.
