Select Radio UK, which broadcasts music from emerging artists in the city from its studio in Mile Cross, has expanded its DAB+ range to include Cambridge, Peterborough and West Norfolk.
The station has worked closely with Gonzo’s, a music venue in London Street and now has DJs with regular shows broadcasting from the East.

Joshua Roberts, who works as head of programming at Select Radio UK, said: “It’s great to be able to showcase more talent.
“Grass roots music is super important in Norwich.
“Last week, we had a guest on air who was just 17 years old.
“As an independent radio station, to be able to keep building the music community here is brilliant.”
Select Radio has hosted weekly shows including record labels Defected, Glitterbox, Nora En Pure and Above & Beyond.

Mr Roberts added: “Radio stations play so much of the same music.
“Our biggest competitors are probably Radio One Dance and Capital Dance.
“Platforms like ours are where people begin their careers.
“We firmly focus on electronic music, everything from house, garage, disco, techno, dnb, funk and soul.”
Mr Roberts joined as head of programming at the radio station in 2016 and started to shape the station to appeal to “a younger audience of music lovers”.
In 2022, they got a digital broadcast licence and launched on DAB+ across Norwich.
The Select Radio app can be downloaded on both iPhone and Android devices.
