BBC’s upcoming detective drama reboot Lynley has confirmed a release window for later this year.
The series adapts the Inspector Lynley novels by Elizabeth George, with Vikings‘ Leo Suter as the titular DI Tommy Lynley, and Ted Lasso‘s Sofia Barclay as DS Barbara Havers.
Comprising four episodes, the series also stars Line of Duty‘s Daniel Mays as DCI Brian Nies, and is coming to BBC One and iPlayer this autumn.
Lynley is a brilliant detective who’s an outsider among his colleagues due to his aristocratic upbringing. He is paired with DS Havers, a sergeant with an eye for detail who comes from a working-class background.
“With seemingly nothing in common and against all odds, the mismatched duo of Lynley and Havers become a formidable team, bonded by their desire to see justice done,” the synopsis reads.

“I’m thrilled to see Thomas Lynley and Barbara Havers come to television again, especially through the participation of the BBC and Britbox and the production expertise of Playground,” Elizabeth George said in a statement when the series was announced.
“Watching my characters brought to life on television is a real celebration.”
Lynley will premiere on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the UK, and on BritBox in the US and Canada this autumn.
