17 Nov – If you want to see your favourite Hong Kong legends like Chow Yun Fat and Jacky Cheung in a variety show, boy you are mistaken, as Carina Lau revealed that they absolutely refused to do so.
The actress, who participated in the mainland variety show “Road Blossoms Season 2”, shared recently that the production team had asked her to invite Chow Yun Fat and Jacky Cheung to the show many times but that they declined it time and time again.
Carina admitted that despite her efforts to persuade them, their attitudes were very firm. She said that the reason is that they do not want to divert their energy from doing what they want to do, and they refuse to reduce artistic expression to variety entertainment.
Jacky has said no to ‘Singer’ four times
It is noted that Jacky has declined to participate in “Singer” four times now, be it as a contestant or a judge.
He once humbly stated that although he is a singer, he has never systematically studied music and feels that he may not be professional enough as a mentor.
He explained, “I don’t participate because I am not skilled enough and I don’t understand it.”
As for Chow, the iconic star once said that an actor’s responsibility is to hone their acting skills and serve their craft, not to easily make money through variety shows.
