Beau Fermor has knocked back interest from rival clubs including the Perth Bears, opting to extend his stay on the Gold Coast until the end of 2029.

The 27-year-old made his State of Origin debut this year for Queensland and has become of the game’s best edge forwards in recent seasons.

Fermor has played 92 first grade games for the Titans since making his debut during COVID and despite the potential to move clubs, has signed a three-year extension in the first major and timely boost for head coach Josh Hannay.

“This club means a lot to me,” Fermor said in a statement.

“They gave me the opportunity to achieve my NRL dream in 2020, and they’ve continued to back me throughout all the ups and downs of my career so far.

“Most importantly, they’ve been extremely supportive for me and my young family and whilst I’m a Dalby boy at heart, the Gold Coast is my home now.

“I’m proud of the opportunity to keep wearing the Titans jersey until at least the end of 2029 and I truly believe in where we’re heading under Josh’s leadership.

“We’ve got a special group here and I’m excited to keep building with the boys and be part of the future of this club as we strive to deliver premierships for the Gold Coast.”

Hannay, who officially took over the role this month, admitted the new deal for a player like Fermor is exactly what the Titans needed moving forward.

“Beau is the type of player every club wants – hardworking, reliable and willing to do whatever it takes for his teammates,” the former Sharks assistant said.

“He represents the standards we want to be known for. His consistency and energy lift the entire group and knowing he’s committed long-term is a huge step forward for us.

“I’ve had the privilege to work with Beau in Origin camp previously and am extremely excited to expand on that here at the Titans as a key member of our forward pack.”

The news of Fermor’s fresh contract comes as the club battle to hold onto both skipper Tino Fa’asuamaleaui and halfback Jayden Campbell.

Campbell has reportedly been tabled an offer from the Bears worth $6 million over five seasons, while Fa’asuamaleaui has expressed his desire to test the market and will no doubt be in the sights of the expansion club before their inaugural 2027 campaign.

Melbourne, Canterbury and St George Illawarra have also been linked with one of the game’s best front-rowers, while Campbell is also in the sights of the Dragons.

Hannay has already lost one high-profile player since arriving at the club, with enigmatic second-rower David Fifita granted an early release to join South Sydney.
