A resurfaced clip of Britney Spears talking about where she saw her life in 20 years is going viral — and leaving people so emotional.

When asked whether she wanted a family, her face lit up. “Yes, definitely,” she said.

“In 20 years, I see myself around my pool with my kids running around, having swimming parties as I drink my margaritas with my girlfriends,” Britney added with a laugh.

She went on to say she wanted to be “just like” her mom, Lynne, calling her a “beautiful” person. Getting emotional, Britney said, “She’s such a spiritual person and such a beautiful lady, so I wanna be like her.”

The clip resurfaced on Instagram this week, and many viewers were moved — and also saddened — in light of everything Britney has been through since.

As many know, Britney was placed in a court-ordered conservatorship in 2008 amid a series of personal struggles, which led to the oversight of everything from her finances to her medical care. Although her father, Jamie, controlled it, Britney later claimed it was her mother’s idea, accusing Lynne of “secretly ruin[ing]” her life. “They threw me away,” she said of her family. “That’s what I felt — I felt like my family threw me away.”

Lynne has denied wrongdoing, saying she only ever tried to “help” Britney with her “hardships.” However, tensions have reportedly remained high even after the conservatorship ended in 2021.
Britney did become a mom, welcoming sons Sean Preston and Jayden James with her ex-husband Kevin Federline. But that relationship was also complicated. Kevin was granted primary custody of the boys in 2008, and in 2023, they moved to Hawaii with him.

Earlier this year, Britney revealed that she had only seen one of her sons for “45 min in the past 5 years and the other with only 4 visits in the past 5 years,” though she didn’t specify which. Although she supported them financially — including $20,000 per month in child support and other expenses — she said she believes her sons were influenced by the “the lack of respect” that Kevin showed her.

So with all this in mind, people were devastated watching the resurfaced clip.

One person commented, “Poor Britney.” Another wrote, “It feels sad seeing this.”
“She was hurt by the people that she trusted the most,” a third person wrote, while another said, “This poor sweet girl. I hope she truly finds her happiness one day.
