Mathias Lessort will travel to Portugal to undergo arthroscopy, Panathinaikos announced.
After numerous issues and uncertainties regarding Mathias Lessort’s health and recovery, it has now been officially confirmed that the French center will undergo a new medical procedure. Mathhias Lessort will be operated on Monday (24/11) in Porto by renowned orthopedic surgeon Professor Niek van Dijk, one of the world’s leading experts in the field, the club announced.
Lessort reached this decision after consulting multiple doctors about the persistent issues in his left ankle — complications stemming from a fibula fracture he suffered in December. Panathinaikos added that the club’s head of medical staff, Ioannis Triantafyllopoulos, will accompany him to Portugal for the procedure.
Panathinaikos is dealing with major injury problems at the center position this season. Besides Lessort, both Richaun Holmes and Omer Yurtseven are also sidelined. The Athens club had no choice but to react on the market, bringing in Kenneth Faried, who has looked impressive in his first games.
