The Gold Coast Suns have announced that Erin Phillips has been appointed as the new general manager of the club’s women’s football program.
Phillips is one of the more decorated players in the AFLW, with the knowledge and experience that she has gained over her football and basketball career making her highly valued in her new role.
Phillips shared her excitement about her new role in a club statement.
“This role brings together everything that I’m really passionate about, working in a team, working in high performance, building a program and helping athletes get the absolute best out of themselves and hopefully we can have some success through that,” she said.Â
“I’ve had 24 years of experience working in elite programs all around the world.
“I want people to walk through these doors and love being here, and I want them to come here, get better and go home and can’t wait to come back tomorrow.”
The three-time premiership player has been working within the AFL football operations department in roles supporting game analysis, talent pathways, player movement and player engagement roles across the AFLW.
“During my time at the AFL, I learnt a lot by just being able to different clubs and seeing how they operate.” Phillips said.
Gold Coast Suns chief executive officer Mark Evans shared his excitement on Phillips’ appointment.

“We believe her knowledge and expertise will help provide the tools to develop a high performing enviroment that ultimately drives success within our women’s program.”
The 2025 Hall of Fame inductee will begin her role in 2026.
