Man charged after women allegedly sexually assaulted at Melbourne venues

A 36-year-old man has been charged with rape and sexual assault after two 19-year-old women were allegedly attacked in Melbourne.

Police allege the first incident happened at a venue on Victoria Street in Melbourne CBD between 5.35am and 7am on Saturday, August 9.

The second incident allegedly occurred at a venue on Smith Street in Collingwood between 12.30am and 3.15am on Friday, September 12.

Police have since charged a Melbourne man with five counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault.

He is due to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on January 8 next year.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
