WILL Brown insists he heads into Supercars’ Adelaide Grand Final with plenty of confidence despite his ongoing qualifying woes.

Brown has not started higher than 10th in any of the past six races, a span during which he has qualified 15th or worse on four occasions.

But he has time and again sliced his way through the field in race trim to continue advancing through the finals stages.

“We take a lot of confidence going into Adelaide,” said the 2024 champion.

“I think at the end of the day a lot of people can’t count us out no matter where we qualify. I think qualifying 15th and 17th, if that was any other car (at Sandown), they may have struggled to actually get through.”

Brown though acknowledged “I don’t think we can win the championship if we qualify where we have been qualifying” – leading him to set a particular goal for Adelaide.

“My approach is just to try and get in the Shootout each day,” he said.

“I feel like in the Shootout we can do a good job and be further up the front.

“We’re trying to put our finger on our qualifying at the moment, but haven’t figured it out yet.

“We haven’t been able to pinpoint what it is, so we are doing a lot of simulator work, we’re looking at set-up, we’re looking at our run plans and everything to try and make sure we give ourselves the best shot.”

Brown can become the first back-to-back Supercars champion since his Triple Eight predecessor Shane van Gisbergen (2021-22).

His grand final opponents are teammate Broc Feeney, Walkinshaw Andretti United star Chaz Mostert and Grove Racing rookie Kai Allen.
